Teenager mauled by pit bull cross

Police shot dead a dog so intent on mauling a teenager that it tried to attack again after bystanders pried the animal off the victim.
The article goes on to state that:
People in the neighbourhood said the dog was known to be unfriendly to other animals and had been trained as a guard dog.

So it seems that even a mutt with some pit bull in them is news worthy as a "pit bull attack". From the article one can deduce that the dog was trained to be mean.
